What Makes Hope Christian Academy Special

One of the great things about HCA is the level of student involvement. High school is more than just academics. It is a time to grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually. It is a time to try new activities and take on leadership roles.

At HCA, all students have the opportunity to get involved. From sports to student government, from planning a school dance to activity days, from volunteering for a service project to decorating a wall for homecoming, there is never a dull moment at Huron Valley!

Through all these activities, students form lasting friendships with their peers and have great Christian role models from their teachers and coaches. These relationships allow us to foster character development and leadership skills.

Our school body is also known for being inclusive. Our students and families often refer to it as “one big family.” There are not “cliques” or exclusive groups. Every person here is an important part of the HCA Family.

Ways to Get Involved

Student Leadership

Student Government

Beginning in 9th grade, classes elect student council representatives as well as a class president and treasurer. These individuals help plan student activities and events. New elections occur every year giving students the opportunity to take on leadership roles.

NHS

Students in 10th or 11th grade with a 3.5 GPA or higher are invited to apply for the National Honor Society.  The four pillars of NHS are Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

NHS students help plan service projects throughout the year.

HCA
Ambassadors

As an HCA Ambassador, students are able to lead school tours, practice public speaking, and volunteer at community events. It’s a great way for students to learn leadership right here on campus!

Athletic
Managers

For some students, being an athletic manager is more appealing than participating as a player.  Managers get to help with the team’s success and are an integral part of each team.

Activities at HCA

Spirit Week

Homecoming week is always a highlight for students.  Themed dress up days, class competitions, the Homecoming “Walls”, and the pep rally are highlights each year.

HCA Activity Days

We want our students to work hard academically, but also have healthy ways to relieve stress and fun with one another.  Activity days scheduled throughout the year give a break from the routines and are fun ways for the students to grow closer as a class.  From bowling to board games to kickball, our students love HCA’s Activity Days.

School Dances

Prom, Homecoming, Sadie Hawkins, Welcome Dance, Christmas Dance — Each one is planned by students and something they look forward to year after year.

“You can just feel the difference at HCA when you walk down the halls.  Students smile and greet visitors.  You get the feeling that it’s a family where everyone is welcome.” – Student/Alumni, Class of 2021
